This was quite a few years ago. 😁
My Story
My path into health care has always been guided by a desire to serve, to teach, and to help people experience real, lasting change in their lives.
I earned my Doctorate in Chiropractic in 1992 from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, now Cleveland University in Overland Park, Kansas. After completing my National and State Board examinations, my family and I moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where I began my clinical practice. I have been caring for patients as a licensed Chiropractic Physician since that time, and I currently practice part-time with Woodland Health, Inc., while also providing private chiropractic services in the greater Oklahoma City area.
Not long after beginning my practice, another calling in my life continued to grow — teaching.
In 2004, I joined the faculty at Oklahoma State University–Oklahoma City as a member of the Science Department. What began as an opportunity to teach has become one of the greatest blessings of my professional life. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with thousands of students, many of whom have gone on to serve in nursing and other health professions, and being part of their journey has been incredibly meaningful to me.
I served as Lead Instructor for Anatomy and Physiology for 15 years, was granted tenure in 2010, and in 2015 was honored with the rank of Professor. As our department has grown, my role has evolved, and since 2019 I have served as Lead Instructor of Human Physiology.
Balancing patient care and teaching has shaped who I am. It allows me to live in both worlds — working one-on-one with individuals to restore their health, and helping students understand the incredible design and function of the human body. Each strengthens the other. My clinical work keeps my teaching real and practical, and my teaching keeps me constantly learning and growing for my patients.
That balance has also created space for reflection, renewal, and the continued development of the programs and resources that now reach beyond the classroom and the clinic.
This journey — as a doctor, professor, lifelong student, and servant to others — is the foundation of SchererHealth.
Because for me, this has never been just a career.
It is a calling.
“As someone who had to work hard for my own education, I have always had a special passion for helping others realize that they are capable of far more than they believe.”
About Dr. Dean J. Scherer
Hello, and welcome.
I’m Dr. Dean J. Scherer, a Chiropractic Physician with more than 30 years of experience helping individuals and families feel better, move better, and live healthier, more energetic lives. My goal has always been to care for people the way I would want my own family to be cared for — with time, attention, compassion, and a clear plan for real, lasting results.
Through my work with Woodland Health, Inc., I provide personalized, root-cause care that goes beyond symptom relief. By combining traditional chiropractic, advanced neuromuscular and rehabilitative techniques, lifestyle and nutritional guidance, and patient education, I help patients take an active role in their healing and long-term wellness.
This clinical experience led to the development of Dr. Scherer’s Protocol (DSP) — a structured, physician-guided system designed to restore metabolic function, improve energy, support healthy body composition, and create sustainable lifestyle transformation. DSP meets you where you are and provides a clear, step-by-step path forward.
SchererHealth.com is an extension of that mission, allowing me to work with individuals both in person and virtually through:
Doctor-guided metabolic health programs
Personalized wellness consultations
Professional-grade nutritional support
Practical, science-based education
Everything offered here is carefully selected and personally recommended so you can move forward with confidence and clarity.
My purpose is not only to help you get out of pain, but to help you build a stronger, more resilient, more vibrant life — one that creates a lasting impact on your health, your future, and the people you care about.
I look forward to being part of your journey.
